New Schuebeler HDS 70mm and 90mm fans

Presented at the Jetpower event running just now in Germany.

News only in German for now

http://www.schuebeler-jets.de/news/3...-impeller.html

Apart from stiff fan blades designed for best efficiency in a broad powerband and low noise, those two 69- and 90mm fans show a very innovative vane/shroud design: The stator made of high tensile aircraft aluminium alloy (providing rigidity and optimum heat dissipation for the motor) is fused together with the unidirectional carbon shroud - allowing for minimal blade gap and high thrust in the airframe.

DS-30-AXI HDS (69mm), price forecast 139 Euro
max rpm: 60.000
max power: 2750 W
max static thrust: 33 N equivalent to around 3.4kg
max efflux velocity: 94 m/s
weight: 54 g
max motor diameter: 28 mm
for 4mm shaft diameter

DS-51-AXI HDS (90mm) price forecast 149 Euro
max rpm: 50.000
max power: 5350 W
max static thrust: 64 N equivalent to around 6.5kg
max efflux velocity: 101 m/s
weight: 107 g
max motor diameter: 39 mm
for 5mm shaft diameter

EDIT: There is a video interview with Daniel Schuebeler himself online now (from the Jetpower event / fair). It's in German, so I'll tell you what's happening (not repeating what is already stated above about alloy stator (black for max heat dissipation) etc):
- first he talks about some changes in the plugs of the HST series, more robust cabling not liable to get unstuck by itself after some use
- 1:49 min: showing the new 215mm fan, the problems he had with the motors are solved, the 10-pole is now running at 90% effiicency, 50V, 300amps...
- 2:28 min: New 6mm silvered plugs, good for up to 700amps (short duration), will not get unstuck
- 3:18 min: HDS fans; long development phase (2,5 years), for the last 2 years very much on his agenda. No compromise in quallity and efficiency at much lower prices. Motor rpm higher than the HST series, so lower load for the (injection molded) fan blades

I can't tell for sure but the blades don't look like the typical carbon fiber....but that should lower the price a bit

I've seen your posts for Shubie and appreciate them.
I've been a "fan" (pun intended) of the HDT units for 5 years, and have used the DS-30, 44 ,and 51-DIA HDT in a number of jets.
The popularity of the HDT series dropped off with the influx of the higher blade count EDFs.
I'm looking forward to the new series, and their price point is quite reasonable for a Schuebeler product.

Beautiful fan!
I know HST is high static thrust and HDT is high dynamic thrust.
Whats HDS stand for?
