I am replacing my pa extra mx for a similar size 3dhs. I have the slick 51 already. I was planning on getting the edge but not sure if I will be disapointed after already owning the slick????? I like the slow harriers with the slick and also the crazy flatspins . What are thoughts?????

I've done all those things and more with my 58" Edge...you won't be disappointed. I have a 51" Slick as well...I like em both...they are the two most frequently flown planes in my fleet.

As just mentioned, lammbn is selling his for a very good deal, FYI.

I liked the 57, and have heard great things about the 58, although I didnt like the 74 all that much, I own a 59 and I don't really like it all that much, I really don't know why, but it just isn't as awesome in my opinion as some of the others out there.

I felt the same way about the 59" Slick, but I used the recommended Hacker which is underspec'd in my opinion. You need a Motrofly 4315 714kv with a 15x8 prop (CC 100amp Ice Lite), and it will probably change your mind. I sold my 59" Slick to a friend, but with the right set up, I would like to have it back.

I am running the 4315, cc ice 100 and have switched props from 15x8, 15x7, now I have a vess 15x6 and really like it, a little better than the APC, but im not sure its worth the price difference. All the same there is just something strange about it. I dont fly it all that much as I really enjoy my 48" edge for electric and fly my 30% and 40% gassers more. I suppose I am simply spoiled on the gas planes as they fly so good, but I wish the slick was better. dont get me wrong, it is awesome and the motrolfly pulls it like crazy, the plane tumbles like crazy and does the most awesome pop tops of any other plane I have flown. I really want to try the edge though, I hope it fly's like the 48.

I own both Edge's, and while I enjoy both of them, they do not fly the same. My 48 is slow and floaty, and my 58 is powerful, fast, and floaty. The 58 has way more rudder authority.

Getting close to test flying the Edge later this week. It appears that I will need a few ounces of nose weight to get the sweet spot of 3.75" CG. I am going to use a 1100 mah A-123 2S Pack in the nose and run the receiver with the A-123, eliminating the BEC. Weight of the A-123 battery is about 3 oz.

this is a common issue...the plane won't notice the weight and you'll be glad you did this. Let us know!

p.s. I used the same technique to add a little nose weight.

Joe's Dad, thanks for the great shots of the 58" Edge. Oh that makes me want to work on mine a little longer tonight. Looks like Joe is putting it through the paces.

I"m using 3S2800's in series with the Motrofly 4315 on my 58" Edge. Other than shorter flight times, those 3S2200's in series should work fine...only pulls 53amps max.
