VS1100 Ultra Micro FPV range improvement.

Hi, I'm new with FPV and have been flying my Quad with the new Fatshark/Spektrum Ultra Micro FPV (VS1100) system. Everything seems to work great and FPV flying is so immersive, and natural. Very addictive.

My only criticism is the range. Line of sight isn't too bad,... but as soon as an object such as a tree gets between me and the model the picture begins to go.

Does anyone know of any products that are compatible ,..which can help with range.

Regards
Ed

Does that system operate on 5.8GHz? If it does most of the standard FPV antennas and transmitters will be compatible. Also need to know what voltage the transmitter operates on.

Sometimes a better receiver antenna (helical) will solve problems like yours.

Thanks for your help guys. Will take a look at those links.

Yes, this is 5.8GHz.
Not sure how to find the voltage the transmitter operates on, but the camera takes 1S LiPo's.

My problem here is the kit is basically a plug and play system, and I'm not sure it can be upgrade.

That sounds like itís a good way to get started in FPV and was not designed to be upgraded.

Maybe you should just keep it as is and save up for a larger aircraft that is compatible with all the standard FPV gear. Your receiver will work so you wonít need to upgrade that.

I've replied to your thread on FPVlab.

If you're going to upgrade antennas, nothing compares to VAS antennas.
