Say , is there a Good place to order the epp , from , cheap and do they have different colors ??? Layne

I'm not really sure. I haven't tried to get colors or cheap. The only thing this place had was thick slabs of white that need to be cut into sheets thin enough to use. That's all I need to do a little research. I think there's another place selling thin sheets, but I don't have any references.

mark at FunPlanes.com sells 4mm and 6mm thick sheets of epp in 3'x2' and his prices are very reasonable (and
he ships internationaly, lucky for me ), if you require some of these or different sizes PM him through this
forum i'm sure he'll set you up with what you need .

FYI, EPP is absolutely nothing like EPS (duh!) It has zero rigidity, so a flat plate is almost out of the question. You could either cover it to give it some strength, or put a ton of spars in there. I don't know if a higher density would be a lot stiffer as I've only had experience with 1.3 lb/sq. inch. You may think that the ability of EPP to fold instead of crack is a good thing, until your wings flapping like an ornithopter make tracking/precision impossible! I would suggest going with a wing like the SX2 has.

Of course I'd love to be proved wrong, but take this as a warning.

Another FYI...

The 1.9 d is stiffer, but I don't think it's enough to work like depron. Some thread was mentioning it's use for a fuselage because it was stiffer. But then, that fuse bent right in half like the SX2, so it can't be too stiff. I think you're right about using other things when trying to obtain stiffness. ...either built-up or spars or something.

I think it's built in 3 layers; 3mm foam with a 3mm balsa and CF center section. If the EPP doesn't stretch much then this might work.

Of course, not having the stuff in front of me means I'm just wild guessing.

Yes it does read -15 Celsius, man was it cold. It was nice dough to get together and fly though. It was a nice atmosphere it the special light, se photo.

At the positive side, the Lipos didn’t hold up as good as in warmer conditions so I could use more of the throttle stick. It was more pleasant to fly in that manner. I am thinking on propping down so more of throttle can be used under normal circumstances. More that 2:1 thrust is much more that what is useful. Am I onto something or will I get disappointed?

You flew in that? Wow! My respect for Norwegians just went up a couple of notches.

Why not prop down? As long as you have the vertical you want/need. As an added bonus, you'll also get longer flights.

At 2:1 thrust you probably have enough extra power to add a small IC enigine and use it to run a heater to keep the li-polys warm. Kind of like a
"hybrid" (gas/electric) car.

My fist plane with no landing gear. Was somewhat apperhensive
about landing, but this plane really slows down for a extra soft touchdown.
Construction mistakes
dont use hot glue on the control horns( I was in a hurry)
on the secont flight noticed the roll rate was way off
the right aerilon zip tie connection was loose.

Mounted the wing 1/2 inch too far back. Need to Sudy the plans
better next time.
