Photos From the Heli Competition
Hi Everyone!
I am still here in Chicago, and just got back from dinner after tearing down the booth. I took a break from the booth today and watched the two Scorpion Power Systems sponsored pilots, Nick Maxwell and Bobby Watts. As you already heard, Nick took First place and Bobby took second. What you might not know is that both pilots were flying Scorpion Helicopter motors. Nick was flying the new HK-2221-6 motor with a Scorpion 55 Amp ESC, and Bobby was flying the Scorpion HK2221-8 motor. Both pilots were flying the new X-Cell 3D Mini 450 size helicopter from Minature Aircraft. I got a chance to meet both Nick and Bobby this afternoon when they stopped by our booth. At this point in time, they had completed the preliminary round, and Nick was in First place, with Bobby a close Second. Here is a photo of Nick and Bobby standing in front of the Innov8tive Designs booth at the Chicago i-Hobby Expo show. Here is a close-up of Nick's machine showing the Scorpion motor and ESC. ![]() After we chatted for a while, Nick and Bobby went back to the flight line to prepare for their final round. Later on in the day I went over to the flying area and watched the final round. I shot a few more photos, and video taped Nick's and Bobby's final round flights. I will post the videos later after I get back home, and have a chance to download them. Here is a shot of me with Nick, after his final round performance, while we were waiting for the scores to be tabulated. ![]() Here is a shot of all the final round contestants waiting to hear the news from the score keepers. ![]() Well the time had finally come, and the winners were announced. First, in third place, was Kyle Stacy. Kyle got a new Trex 450 helicopter with all 24 karat Gold-Plated Hardware. Bling-Bling! In second place, and the winner of a $750 prize check, was Bobby Watts. ![]() And finally, the First place winner of the Chicago i-Hobby Mini-Heli competition, and the recipient of a check for $1,500.00, was Nick Maxwell. And here is a photo of the Top 3 finishers of the event. Thanks for all the pilots that competed, and congratulations to the winners! As I said, I will post videos of Bobby and Nick's flights after I get a chance to download and process the video files. See you all later!
