Local natl guard armory or Sports Complex will allow indoor flights. It's an Indoor/Outdoor plane, but, the AS3X will handle high winds. The AS3X will only stabilize up to 10 mph though.

Tuesday looks excellent. Winds forecast to be < 3mph all day for Dallas.

The wind calmed down a bit and I managed to get one flight in. Pretty choppy but I can see that this is going to be real simple, fun, long flight flying. I like it.

Cool video !!

What surprised me , was how far away that package allowed you to
fly from the base-station !!

A) What's the absolute Max range for the UMX receiver ? (i have a DX 7s)
B) What's the absolute Max range for your FPV unit ?

Thanks : Bille

Honestly I am not sure max range of the plane yet, don't plan on finding out. I hear it's not awesome. The video range on a good day not a lot of interference is 1/2mile on 200mw with my receiver setup. I am pretty sure that will exceed the range of the radio. I have video of even farther flying than the video above. I would say I was about 1200 feet out at max.

amazing video

thank you for the video. best way to show if something works. and sure it does! 1st climb 1:30 minutes, then 1:15 glide. i could not imagine the plane could do so well. and the extra weight (about 50%) sure helps flying in windy weather too, so that is an extra bonus.
and still you can catch it.
as i have 1 rad without gyros, it could be the ideal candidate for the gear, as the extra weight will help to stabilize it.

now, could i use the gear that goes into the plane with a screen instead of the goggles?
i have other components that weigh about the same, and use screen, that's why i ask.
and having tried goggles before, am more inclined to use screen instead.
again, congratulations for the achievement.
another way to use this magnificent, versatile design.

from my experience, i have flown the stock lil rad (a lot) as far as i can see it and radio (orange) works great, so that is no problem.
now about the fpv range, let him answer.

If it's any comparison, I've had my sport cub s2 out almost 1/4 mile before losing signal. Got it back, but it was sketchy for a bit there. That was with FPV of course or I wouldn't be able to see that tiny plane that far away. I hear you can bend the antenna up away from the all in one board to get better reception also, but haven't tried it. Don't want to cut open the plane unless I have to. If I want to go farther I'll use a bigger plane and receiver anyways.

Ok, I'm starting to take an interest.

What's the bottom line, for someone with only a plane and radio?

Yes the type of viewing device does not matter. A screen by itself would show the same picture as my homemade goggles, or the high dollar goggles.

So all up the cheapest is around $130-$150 after shipping and misc RCA cables, connectors, foam, fresnel lens (if doing home made goggles).
