I bought a load of 12 'rc timer' micro servos off of ebay. I use them in my cybirds and a few other things. Each one came with various horn options, these are the best out of what they came with. I am now getting low after three CX3s though.

Cool, my set came with 2 sets like shown in pic, and the other set are on both sides of the spline - which I guess I could use, but I have plans for those!

I was really surprised, when I first started in this forum, that no one had tried it yet. I find it very touchy on the 5th hole but once you get use to that 'touchiness', you really do have a lot more control over it. I love it like this. |

I am surprised to see this question come from you. Both the upper retaining ring and the brass washer between the lower bearing and upper gear have a lip for a VERY good reason. The lip rides on the inner edgeor flange of the bearing. It also allows both the upper gear and the retaining collar to clear the outer bearing flange and the frame. If the lip was not there the retaining collar and the upper or outer gear would ride against the outer bearing flange and/or the frame causing friction. Do you get my drift?

I think I had mine a little too far out before, the heli wanted to nose right down - up high it would be okay = fast, but close to ground you had to be light on elevator - but it was cool yes

Sven knows this, he is just wondering why some people leave a gap - ie paper spacer when setting! Quote:

as Razor said two or three posts down from yours - I know what the lip is for ... that is why I said I have a dumb question - but it really HAS me confused. As you say, the lip is there to enable the collar keep touch with the bearing - so WHAT is the recommendation with the space or the paper for ... as this clearly would work AGAINST this "lip" keeping contact to the bearing ??? See what I mean - there must be a reason for recommending it ... and I don't understand it; Hence my question

Recommendation for a boom kit
My love-hate relationship continues with the CX3
![]() Recently, Sonny was first class in sending my replacement blades after the original ones sent with the no stirke kit were warped. Stumblebee was instrumental in figuring that problem out. With the new blades I finally was able to get a stable hover out of the CX3. While I am loathed to put another penny into this POS, (and like an idiot, I have two of them...one still in the box unflown ) after reading all the positive aspects of getting a boom kit (and I agree with this) I figured that putting down a little more cash for this might be worthwhile. My question though is...which boom kit is the recommended for the CX3? thanks kingsnake11 |

![]() Four people - four booms - four recommendations ... ZERO consensus! but hey, that's how it is and how it will always be - so let me (try to) be the first of the four: Options: Sonny boom boomtown boom vigilante boom Xtreme boom and DIY !!! ( ooops - that makes it at least 5 options ... )personally I did Xtreme in two different versions and DIY ... all works for me! (you can do a DIY for less than 10$ as opposed to the 20-30$ for the RTF booms) but surely, in the end no one can REALLY help you pick your favorite. And now I let the Sonny boom guys and the boomtown boom guys make their case ...Sven |

I like boomtown cause it looks great, is light, durable and has solid mounting to the frame. Sonnys is good for weight, look and adjustable fins, but personally I don't like using double sided tape. it's all a preference thing. They're all good and help out hugE for outdoor flight. I understand your cx3 frustrations more than anyone; trust me on this! Lol

If you go back through this thread you can see pics of my bird with sonny boom and boomtown hobbies boom, also if you look at Svens thread you will seE pics of his boom; svens helis and mine have custom painted fuses which also make a world or different in looks; both Sven and I love to bling up our birds. I will be building another cx2/3 bird soon that will be all done up nice and be powerful for outdoor flight; this is f course; if all works out according to plan |
