Cool rigger Amp Abuser! Love to see a vid..

I built a micro rigger a while back and intended to use a norvel engine but could never get the drive line built. Do you think the motor and gear you used would power it well?

I saw your rigger pics the boat was made a few years back how much does it weigh without any motor batts or engines in it. Do you have any recent pics? You can get it running with Dumas 1/2A running kit comes with a fly wheel and drive line with a 1x1in prop for the norvel. The original dumas hyrdos for 1/2A was 18in to 24in. And they where tetherd at first. As you can imagine with no rc gear they did ok. Your 16in rigger would do fine on a norvel over 25mph more like mid 30's if your setup is light n clean. You could use from 60w to 350w in that rigger. My rigger is so light it cant handle more then 150w. I currently have it running on the prop with just 30w ish based on run time and whats left in the pack.

The hull with the rudder weights 2 oz. and is almost 14" long including the rudder. I havent done much else, so it still needs a radio lid/motor cowl.

The problem with the norvel is the M3 .5 prop screw. I have a Dumas 1/2A flywheel but it has a .125 bore for the cox engine, fits sloppy and weights a ton. Plus the norvel is a screw, and I think the cox is a stud with nut.. Correct?
Iv pretty much given up on using the norvel. I should have had my running gear first and built the boat around it instead of building the boat first.

Just wondering if any new off the shelf FE gear is available to make this hull work without rewinding motors etc.

Iv been tempted to build a micro jae rigger. But Im not experienced matching motors/batts/props with boats.

Thanks

I would think one of the small brushless motors with 2/3 lipos would work - thats the direction I am heading and yours is a bit bigger

Look at the 12" rigger thread - looks to be around the same size and weight

Yea the jap riggers look good and free plans that can be sized to suit your needs. The rigger you have has alot of options sounds like your content with going electric with it.

Yes the dumas needs the .124 double threaded bolt that has a smooth unthreaded center for the flywheel... yes on the sloppy I fixed that by a thin layer of CA glue around the smooth part of the bolt I let it dry and then assembled. Once tighten down it will hold true.

So you need to hit the FE sites and see whats out there for you 3400 to 4000 kv motor on 2S will keep you happy with this size boat or 2600 to 3000 kv on 3S . Tons of couplers and drive lines to suit on the market.
