It's pretty unlikely that the gyro is creating vibration. However, it does depend what you mean by "vibration" --rapid oscillation is one thing; vibration is another. If it's a high speed wag, then yes, the gain being too high is a possible culprit. As always, mechanical setup is important here too.

Tail blade balance is important, but if you just mean some minor shape inconsistency then it's not likely to cause problems. It depends on how big the burrs are, though.

The problem is that I can not re create it within a predefine sequence of steps. I can recreate it or better said I can observe it during fligth but not consistenly. I readjusted the servo position and replaced the tail blades. Did a quick hover last nite where vibration was not observed so I need to try during daylight

waitin' for new goodies

Well I’ve gone and pulled the trigger on a new tail setup: a new S9257 (if you don’t order from Tower Hobbies for about a year, they give you a nice $20 off of $50 coupon – sweet!) and I’m going to try an Align GP750 – yes, Align. Reviews seem to be very good on this gyro, and lightly used ones pulled from 450 Pro kits can be had in the vicinity of $100. So my expectations are high, and hopefully I’ll be tinkering away with them next weekend.

Thumbs up Intermitten tail virbration

I finally found the Intermittent tail vibration.
I adjusted the double joint lever in the tail unit housing.
The manual said to not over-tighten but it seemed looser than required. So making it a bit of tighter and it is all smooth now. No vibrations!
Another question,do you guys use any type of lubricant for the belt and the
other rotating parts?
Is triflow something that you guys recomend?
I have the thunder tiger lubricant but its is hard to put on small crevices unless I disassemble the parts.
thanks
G

I've gone both ways with lubricating the bits- TriFlow on the mechanical bits and heavy silicone on the belt, and nothing on either. I've settled mostly on a light-to-medium oil on open bearings, a medium grease on thrust bearings and (only if needed) on the mainshaft and tailshaft to smooth swash/pitch slider movement, and then a light bit of TriFlow on other links only where necessary. I'd rather size the linkages and adjust levers like the tail so they move smoothly without lubricants; I've never had a real problem from the oils collecting dirt per se, but something you oil is something you have to clean and oil again regularly.

9257 is a good servo, krefi. I haven't tried the Align gyro, but it's gotten some good comments.

One thing to note is to keep the tail slider free of any liquid lubricant as debris will collect and will literally wet sand your main shaft and slider bushing / bearings. Instead powered graphite works great for this.. Don't ask me how I know...

LOL.. Little lesson learned with the MX-400 actually, a stroll down memory lane, wonder what the old bird is up to these days. My MT has proved to fill the role of my only 325mm bird quite nicely I must say. There are a few shinny wow helis but the plastic fantastic meets and beats my novice routine for now. I guess Logo is proof that there is nothing wrong with plastic if proper engineering is employed.

I really need to buy another MT kit and just put it aside for when I rack up the Dragonus. I've thought about it, and I really don't want to take the one I have out of the Cobra- I like that heli now that I've built it -but I want the MiniT back, too. The MX is still as good as ever, but it's getting about five flights every six months or so, so that's no surprise.

Those canopies look great RMG2- another reason I should get another one .
