Brushless Outrunner IN your Easy Glider. (pics)
This whole mod took me about 2.5 hours. It will work with most of the 3000 series Scorpion motors.
-Easy Glider Electric RR -Scorpion 25A ESC -Scorpion 3008-32 Motor -5mm hub, Cam Folder, with either 10x6 or 9x5 blades. Undecided. -40mm spinner. 1 Remove the stock prop and cone. 2 Cut the nose right at the front of the vent holes. 3 Make sure you cut parallel to the factory nose angle to maintain thrust angle. 4 Slide out factory power train. 5 Use a steak knife to "core" out the inside of the fuse to accomodate the motor diameter. 6 Trace the nose onto glass or wood for a fire wall. 7 Mount the motor on the proper location to the firewall (off the plane). 8 Test fit and make sure the spinning motor does not rub the fuse or any wires. Hint: Cut a channel in the foam for the wires to pass. 9 Place glue on the tip of the fuse and press the motor and firewall assembly into the fuse. 10 Glue the tip of the fuse, that you cut off on step 2, in front of the firewall. 11 Test fit the nose cone and prop. 12 Trim the tip of the fuse as needed for proper cone fit. Hint: Sand the surfaces before gluing and use a sanding block to shape the new nose. 13 Mount the prop and cone. 14 Test, rebalance, and fly. PICS: Enjoy! Dave Thanks Lucien from Innov8tiveDesigns.com, Hobby-Lobby, and my son Nicholas for taking a long enough nap to let me finish the job! Last edited by CygnusX1; May 18, 2008 at 12:02 AM. |

Just did something very similar with mine. Generic Chinese brushless motor from the LHS.
On a 10-6 folder and 3s Lipo, it showed ~210 watts. Ought to climb this thing pretty good. Or fold the wings...... Matt |

Flight test this morning.
The motor I used was a BP 2814/8 (the hobby shop had one lying about priced well). Stats: http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...7&pid=B1858544 1100 kv, max current 35 First flight Battery 2/3A NiHM 8 cell, 100mah Prop 10/6 folder Climbed out at about 45* angle. Loads more power than the stock system. Proved thrust angle was OK. Second flight: Battery: Zippy 3s1p 2200 20C LiPo Prop: 10-6 folder Climbed vertically. Straight up. ![]() Need to get longer motor mounting screws - lost all 4 on a hard landing. Definitely a winner. Matt |

white polyurethane glue (wood glue) works best for me, although 5 or 30 minute epoxy is fine too.

I used thin CA. Rock solid. Many, many flights on it now. Including, nose-in water landings. No problems!

I ran some glass cloth around mine just for added strength. Held it on with CA too.
No problems here either. Dan |
