How can they add all that extra weight and still get the same performance? From my 4#3b experience(these are 4 tail motors from what I've read), they need more reliable motors, if nothing else.

NOW I understand what his question was about, not the UFO design, but the title and looks of it, doh!

If not, I'm sure Lucas clones his own army of lawyers for just this sort of thing

I like the looks of this one.
Now when are they going to come out with a brushless version

The useless Walkera brushed motors are the same as what they put on the 4#3b tail. The new CB100 has a double brushless setup and the tail motors are a 2.0g motor that some have replaced with a 2.9g motor. Unfortunately, for this heli, that would mean a different receiver/mixer and ESC's and that would probably make it cost prohibitive. The motors are about $29 eachand the new ESC's would be $10 each, so, you get the picture.

Actually they are not the same motors. The motors in the ufo 8 are a good deal longer than in any of the helis. I think on average people are getting a pretty respectable 100+ flights. Don't forget that brushless motors doesn't equal motors that last forever. If you crash you will still damage your $30 motor and if you don't know how to fix it then rather than buying a $5 brushed motor you will be forking out $30 for a motor. I think brushless is nice but in the case of the UFO 8 I think the brushed motors are very suitable for this application. Now if you don't crash at all then brushless motors would definitely be the choice.

You guys are right. 30 beans a motor is a lot of beans.

Looks like we are stuck with the cheapo brushed for now untill the small bl's become as inexpensive as some of the mid sized 7$ brushless motors are.

So I'll settle for a BL ufo-5 sized bird for now but I guess that topic is for a different thread.

Cool variation of the UFO8 for sure.
