What ARFs are you building at the moment ?
Hi guys,
I thought it would be interesting to start a thread where we can share our experiences - good, bad and ugly - with the ARFs we are putting together on our build bench. What we like and dislike; and have a place to help each other if we get stuck. To kick it off...I'm building: eFlite Pitts model 12 - Great looking semi-scale bipe that has been a bit fiddly and on which I seem to last about two hours each session before I down tools! It's coming along and will be maidened in a few weeks. Sebart Katana 30e - Just started it this rainy afternoon. Will be finished today, hopefully. Great kit (although this one is a factory second due to some minor manufacturing errors (was kitted at 4:30pm on a Friday, no doubt!) Hacker powered. Dolphin aircraft - Goldwing MX 57' - Just started. Looks fantastic. Will be a blast and it's big! Grupner Nemesis pylon racer - Ongoing build that I am not rushing. Have spent hours sanding it smooth and it just needs its running gear fitted. 25% RV-4 from Great Planes - Built. Just need to put my electrics in and decide on what monster brushless this beast is getting. Am thinking a Scorpion! Boxed and waiting for some time to build in the new year or hopefully over X'mas: Composite twin engine Hondajet 71' Funjet Couple of foamies Catalina twin from Electrafly (Great Planes) Cheers, Garth |

Here's my take on the E-flite RV9 which I've had flying for a few weeks now.

I'm not 100% sure where it came from as it was a gift. I believe it came from Hong Kong, and they're around the 140 USD mark.
Here's a video of me flying at my local spot. It's not obvious from a video, but in the air it's quite easy to see. Since the video, I've removed the spats and fitted larger wheels so landing on grass should be a little easier. Haven't tried them out yet.

Iv'e been building a Ultrafly PC-9 after scoring a good deal on it from the for sale thread.
Spent Friday and Saturday putting most of it together before spending a large chunk of Sunday painting it and installing the electrics. Its been painted like a Roulettes Plane and should be ready to fly about an hour after i finish work. Just needs the canopy to be mounted, balance to be checked and battery to be secured somehow. Its a light weight styro jobbie and i was tempted to glass it but didnt want to add too much weight. |

Heres my PC-9, nearly all finished.. just needs some roundrels and the RAAF Roulettes R on the tail and i might even repaint the white bits white to clean up the lines. Painted it with acycrlics paints with my airbrush then covered it with polyurethane clear.
Maidened it this morning and it flew well with the little ewatts 2282 12ookv motor on a 3s 1500mah zippy pack and a 8x3.4 prop. I wouldn't mind some more grunt thou! |
