More practice getting smooth video

Today the weather was too good to pass up so out I went to get some practice. This time with the video mode of the A640. Too bad I didn't know the lens was dirty till I got home. Anyway, 3 flights of footage and I edited it down to about 4 minutes. It is the same boring place where I was chasing ducks and geese a few days back. Nothing special. I practiced slow steady flying. I wanted to get a few low passes over the pond full of ducks and practice flying along the road in case a car came by. I have some plans to use these techniques in a few upcoming video projects so I wanted to practice a little. Anyway these big planes in good conditions can do pretty good...not great but pretty good.

At about 3:22 I did manage to get a shot of some ducks landing. I had been chasing them again hoping to get a shot of them flying...I missed. Depth perception and orientation is a pain without a downlink...not quite installed with that yet.

Yea but when you go there all the time you get tired of taking pics of the same house and pond over and over....however chasing ducks and geese is kinda fun. I may keep playing with the video mode and see if I can get some flying.

Very nice!
Two things though; You need to clean your lens, and what TV theme song was that? It made the vid.

Yea...I realized after I got home and saw the video that I had a dirty lens. For stills it has been fine. Guess I need to check that a little more often.

Actually it wasn't a TV theme song. It was some cheesy royalty free music I bought for our video company a few years ago. It was supposed to sound like a TV theme.

I love cheese too....after all I am from Wisconsin. It's like a food group here. Cheese, brats and beer. 3 of our 5 food groups in WI. I don't partake of the last one...no alcohol for me.

If you are really attached to the music you can get a copy of the CD here. I can't believe the company is still in business. The music is mediocre at best compared to some of the newer stuff out there for royalty free stuff. I bought the CD about 9-10 years ago. I use it occasionally. I have 4 of their CDs.

It was dirty on the first flight so it musta been residuals from my chasing ducks and geese flight a few days ago. That grass is pretty thick. It is a great practice spot though.
