Castle creations ESC
Hello everyone. I've got a question about a castle creations ESC. My dad bought a trex 450 with one on it. As I was setting it up I noticed that the ESC gets hot while sitting there. Is this normal? My dynam ESC doesn't get hot just sitting there. I'm not sure what size it is, because we bought it used with the heli. I could post pictures, but there isn't any markings on the side to identify it.

Yes, they can get hot sitting with it pluged in. Mine usually only get warm.
Hot is a relative measure, is it melting the shrinkwrap, or smelling burnt. Usually not a good idea to leave them plugged in for long periods of time. Better to use a receiver pack. |

It doesn't smell burnt and it isn't melting the shrinkwrap. It just gets hot to the touch. With everything plugged in, but not moving it gets hot to the touch. I was worried, because my dynam doesn't get hot like that.

castle have there own forum so you could check there or just ask them straight.
It would help if you where able to give exact temp since feeling is verry relative. |

I'll get my temp gun out later and take some temp readings on it.

Unplug the servos one at a time until it cools down. Once you find the servo putting a load on the esc's bec, it'll become cool within 10 seconds. An ammeter makes this process even easier.
I went through this process on an old heli -- the ESC gets almost too hot to touch just sitting there (pumping out 1.2A to a bad servo). edfardos |

Thanks for the idea edfardos. That could be the problem, because I noticed one of the collective servo's was differnet than the others. I'll give that a try.
