RC Submarine Model with Metal Hull?
Hi,
Does anyone know of any scratchbuilt RC Submarine Model with brass or metal used in the construction of the hull? I recall seeing one in an issue of the Subcommittee Report from 90s, it was a static model though, a Gato class submarine using brass in its' construction. |

Look very impressive, well designed like a precision tool. is there any further info on this magnificently built model?. Certainly something not often seen are my thoughts.

Metal Hull
A very good place to see more advanced rc subs, wtc and electronics designs is www.rcboot.de
It is in German but on the bottom of the forum page is a tiny window on the bottom right marked GO.Click on this for any language translation.

Thanks Jaguar 75, found the pics in the Quer Beet album on the site you mentioned. Not much information on this all metal U-32 model other than the name of the poster.

Metal Hull Sub
The front and rear sections were spun aluminum which is easy to do.
You can also do this with copper if you want something easier to form and weld.Spun copper is much easier to make and it can be plated in black chrome. The sections were than mated to Norbert Bruggen aluminum bajonett rings. The conning tower can be hollow-cast aluminum, then hollowed out for lightness. The deck is formed from aircraft grade aluminum sheet. The inner chassis is entirely made from aluminum. |

Where is the receiver antenna?
I am having trouble figuring out where he would put the receiver antenna in such a metal hull. If the antenna is entirely inside the hull I don't see how it can pick up a signal. In the picture of the sub in the water I don't see an antenna/periscope sticking up. How does he do it?
