I asked for the test Jack from the Horizon Hobby UK site (I live in Italy) and received after ten days.
It's a simple 3.5 mm "stereo jack with a red LED attached.
My question is: how to use it? Shall I expect the LED to switch on or not in case of a failure? Amazing how Spektrum is distributing bunches of test jacks (I read on local forums that others in Italy have received it from the UK) without any information on how to use it... I e-mailed the UK support a couple of days ago but still no answer.
Does anyone of you know exactly how shall the test jack be used and which response shall I expect from it?
Thanks, bye.

I have no idea how to use the test jack, but you could run winscope, plug in a simple mono or stereo 3.5mm jack into your mic port the other into your 6i (transmitter TURNED OFF!) and if you don't see a group of nice square pulses, something is fubar! You may have to fiddle with Window's input volume levels. I use volume 100 and boost = 0dB.

You can get an older free version of winscope with SmartPropoPlus

or a test version of the newest at

You should contact the administrator and make this a sticky.
Then again, it won't crash your airplane.

News from Horizon Hobby UK

Here is what Horizon Hobby UK has just wrote me:

"If when you plug it in to your radio and the light does NOT come on your radio is fine.

If however the light does COME one , that means that you do have a problem set and it would have to come back to Horizon. "

Fortunately my radio is fine!

Bye.
