How to stop a theif?

I have these two guys that are trying to break into my truck. The first night that they came at 8:00 pm and my neighbor and I just happened to have walked out at that time and spooked them and they ran off. On Monday night at 1:30 am they came back and slapped the hood of my truck to see if I had an alarm on it, which I do. I have a very good alarm. My key chain alarm goes off at the same time as the alarm on the truck. When they slapped it it just set of the warning alarm sound with a few chirps, 10 seconds later my key chain goes off. By the time I got out there they were gone. If they come back again and set of the main my key chain goes of instantly. I hate it for them but they won't get out of my yard because I will shoot them on the spot. So I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions or know of any deterrents that might keep these punks from bleeding in my yard. Police in this area are useless and won't do anything.

You can't shoot them in your yard. You'll goto jail. Report it to the police. Not that there is much they can do. Just make sure you set your alarm.

Reminds me....

It has been reported, along with a report when my brand new grill was stole, also a report when we found a crack head camped out in my yard, a report for the 2 crack heads that had a flat an decide to throw their bad tire in the empty lot across the street. 2 more reports for when another group of 2 kids where casing my truck. A report for a kid that kept hauling ass through the neighborhood. I think there is one more but not sure, kinda losing track. Oh the paintball incident. I live in a very nice neighborhood that is 2 miles away from crackville. I just happen to live on the corner where it is easy to get away.

Well what can we say. Location location location. You'll have to move for things to get better I suppose. Can you park in your garage? Might be worth the effort( if your garage is full of stuff like mine).

I think automatic flood lights might help. IF you can afford, set up a motion sensing web cam to record. OR....Full blown video surveillance. Could even setup to record exiting vehicles. Post a sign at the entrance telling criminals this neighborhood us under video surveillance. Depends on the $ you're willing to spend. Maybe talk to your HOA/neighbors and see if they are willing to help fund it.

I like the idea about shooting them. Lately the police seem to be useless.

I'm trying not to say they don't do their job, but sitting on the side of the road trying to bag speeders seems like a waste of oxygen.

Why dont you put a low jack tracking device in your car? Then if they steal it just look up your car's location on the computer.

they have these paintball sentry robots. It'll accurately track and shoot any moving object it sees. Just have it wired so you can trigger it when you remotely confirm someone's actually messing with your car (hate to have it nail a little kid).

I had guys breaking in my garage and called 911. Told them and they said no one was available and to just let them leave. I couldn't believe it!

So five minutes later I called back and told them I just shot three guys breaking in my garage. Two minutes later there were eight officers and a helicopter. When they went in the garage and saw the guys on their knees with their hands up the cop looked at me and said "I thought you said you shot them!".

I looked back and said "I thought you said no one was available!"

OK, really a joke I heard but still funny.

True story though, a man not far from here pleaded to a misdemeanor for reckless discharge of a firearm for shooting bird shot at three teens stealing from his garage (hit them too). Because it wasn't his residence it was a crime.

Someone once told me...

They had a problem similar to you with someone selling drugs in their front yard. They sat on the roof with a wrist rocket (slingshot) and shot small stones at him. He couldn't see where they were coming from and there was no real proof anyone shot at him since stones are everywhere.

They make bean bag ammo for 12g shotguns that packs a punch but is not very likely to kill you.

I'm not a fan of deadly force, but there is a point where I can understand it's necessity. I've been contemplating picking up a HD shotgun for a while, if I do the first 1-2 rounds will be bean bag, after that it's OO buck.

My logic is that if your still threatening me after two bean bags, you deserve the buck shot.

edit:

Although those paintball sentries are pretty cool. Mount one on your roof of the house... just make sure you wash your truck afterward...
