What to do? What to do?

Really quiet here, present company excepted. Probably not so quiet at the PG.

What do you think guys?

Should we move to the East and keep on keeping on like nothing is happening to our West flank?

Should we simply move organized flight operations to Whitesburg Baptist Annex till the PG invasion ends next Spring?

Any other suggestions on-post, temporarily or "permanently" till something changes?

Jim

Let's try the very east of the pg again today and see how it goes. If their operation has expanded or there's too much activity, we'll just retreat to WBC.

Bob (and Craig) sounds good to me. See you at the East end today with some brand new but year-old 500 mAH packs for my Outrage!

An aside, anyone have a Swift II, any condition, that you'd like to sell me to replace my uber-tired Combat Wings XE2?

Jim

I've got one, sans motor mount. Let me know!

(Actually, I might still have the motor mount. I just took it off for sloping.)

Hey there Spackles94. As I said elsewhere recently, Birmingham is a little far to go at lunchtime. But I suppose if we came to a deal, somebody going down there could carry it back up here. Let's dicker!

Flying at the PG, one day at a time

We flew at the PG again yesterday, using and parking near the East Gate. I picked up a little trash while we were there, and my "bring in the hoe and the rake and smooth out some of the tire track ruts" instinct was kicking in a little. Otherwise a very pleasant day and flying location. The trees to the East were somewhat closer than before, but you just turn a little sooner!

Napo and I came to a general agreement on the Swift II. Now for just a few tiny details, a little help from my local friends in the transportation department, and some patience on my part in completing the transaction.

Chuck came (!) and flew a neat little colorful re-ESCed EPP wing. I stayed out of the air while he was aloft. Self-preservation and all that! It's a screamer, and really manueverable at the same time. I jokingly tried to buy it from Chuck, but he resisted, saying that it's too twitchy for me to fly successfully.

It was nice to see Bob flying one of his helis yesterday after him just flying planes for a while.

Looks like we'll be flying there, one day at a time, having fun (!), and seeing the PG as 2/3 open, rather than as 1/3 closed!

I think I said it was too twitchy for ME to fly successfully :-).

Got it sorted over the weekend (some motor mount-tweeking) and it's a blast.

Chuck, glad to hear you got it sorted out.

Come back soon and show us those square loops you told me about today.

Quiet, drip! drip! drip! today.

Seeing Bob's landing just on the edge of a rutty place yesterday and ripping off the landing gear made me want to buy one of those plastic lawn rollers and a short garden hose to fill it with water at the PG. But one or two or ten lunch-time roller visits would never ever be enough. So I guess I'll just leave well enough alone out there.

what was Bob flying with landing gear?

We can probably move back to the North side of the field now. I drove over there the other day and it didn't look as rutted up as the South side...maybe

I was flying my FuntanaX. The nylon bolts on the lg did their job (broke). It's a quick fix once I pull it out of the trunk.

Terrific flying weather today!

Terrific weather and a nice turnout today. Me, Bob, Jeff, Darren, Richard, and Craig. Chuck ran errands, and he still flew elsewhere!

We got to see Craig shoot his own plane down when the propsaver apparently slipped, letting the prop turn and chop up the front of the fuselage on 3/4 sides. I never saw a self-inflicted crash like that before with a rain of foam bits from just one airplane! Call Craig Mr. Innovative!

Got to see Jeff's Mig tear up the skies, roll like a banchee, and just barely pull out of the turns. Bob flew it and tried several times to do it in without success. Jeff cranked in more elevator, but did not try it that way today. Jeff did one miraculous save landing. Sure, he planned it that way!

I flew my Outrage exactly one 7-minute pack. I guess there was so much air traffic that I did not hear the LVC pulsing. Did a dead-stick landing.

I got to see the aftermath of Craig's foamy DeltaStorm crash yesterday. A pile of foam held loosely together with servos and wires and such. Sorry I missed seeing it.

Really nice to fly with such low winds today.

sorry you missed the X-41 yesterday Jim. It was a pretty cool crash. When it hit the ground it was an explosion of Depron.

Crowded today at Parade Grounds

Some people simply cannot be pleased, no matter what happens!

It was almost crowded today at the Parade Grounds. I enjoyed seeing everyone there; and a lot of flying was done. But with so many different planes in the air at once, it was nearly pandemonium. I managed one flight, then I sat out the rest of the time and just took it all in.

I know it won't be this way all the time; but if it did, we might have to go to 2 or even 3 "services". Perhaps 10-11, 11-12, and 12-1!
