I flew down at the sod farm today and had a blast...I lost track of hits. Stealing the ribbon and getting it stolen and stealing it back, on 2 different flights was pretty awesome. The on one eventful flight, I lost my plane in the glare of the sun, lost orientation and pulled up, the plane went towards the ground, I had it saved, when one of the big wheels on the sprinkler pipe all of a sudden moved right in front of my plane. The pics below tell the rest of the story. I wish I could say that it was a spectacualr hit that did the damage but it was a hit-tacular day anyways.

Looks like you all had a great time flying today.
Darth, did the extensions on the fold-a-max help out with stability? Is that a picture of Nate launching the fold-a-max? Aaron, bummer about the wing! Glad you were able to get some great hits in though. Maybe I can make the next one. |

Nefi, excellent pics. I especially love the texture of the sky in the overhead shot of Nate's Radian. Thanks for getting some great shots of my Foldamax XL.
Aaron, that is some amazing carnage, man. I want to be like you when I grow up. Wait, I don't want to grow up. Jim, yes, that's a pic of Nate launching the foldamax. I'm not sure whether the wing extensions added stability or not. I never got a chance to find out. Once I got to cruising speed, the wings started flexing up and down so bad that it looked like a bird lazily flapping its wings. So I just brought it down quick. I never put any CF in the original foldamax wings, instead going for a laminate only solution to save weight. The laminate held fine when this was just a 52-inch wing, but 88 inches was too much and it started flexing big time once I got my speed up. Plus, there was no CF in the extensions either (except for a little piece to give strength to the seam), so the extensions were flexing badly too. I'll run some CF from wingtip to wingtip and try again. Good news is that we got CG dialed in pretty closely now. BTW, for the wing extensions, I just glued half of a 36-inch Assassin on each side. OK explain to me why an island is a good place for FPV. Just seems like it could be problematic..... what with ALL THE FREAKING SALT WATER IN EVERY DIRECTION!!!!!!!
And we missed you today Cliff. I think Aaron would say it was worth the drive. |

The sod guys gave me a balancer that was left after the last Civil War this fall. If you lost one and can correctly identify it, its will be yours.

Repair???!!! You need to R(R) that thing. Did you mess up the electronics on that? well, we had a great day yesterday for our First time at Antelope Island. Marc had 7 or 8 solo flights and was even jumping up his speed, doing loops and barrel rolls before we left sometime after sun down. I finally after almost a year got to use my Spektrum and it was great with the SS which was re-madened after Marc's last attempt on flying it. It was a great day for flying and cant wait to get out there and fly again. Thanks again Cliff for allowing us you use your charger, I think that really made the day just being able to fly back to back.

If you can't find any up your way, I've got a bit of both. I know Lee has been buying the 3mil stuff to put in his kits so I would guess he has some also.
