From my limited experience planks are very pitch sensitive and cg needs to be spot on from my experience trying to come up with a good one. They also don't recover well so don't plan on doing much combat with a plank.

The Peter Wick airfoils are really popular with the DS and Slope crowd. Im working on several slope planes with variations of the pw51. I just need the electronics to get them in the air.

I'm also using the PW51 in my plank designs. On the slope, I would rather fly a plank then a swept wing. The plank is so much more responsive.

My new combat wing uses the HS522 airfoil, which should slope well too.

I've been telling myself ALL DAY that I can wait until tomorrow to fly. But after spending an hour out in the yard experiencing the most gorgeous fall weather (more like summer), I just can't take it.

I've got to go fly. I'm packing up now. If anybody wants to hook up, post where you want to go in the next half hour, otherwise I'm just gonna hit the road and go where the spirit takes me.

Anybody know if the point has good air today? Seems a bit breezy outside, but I can't tell which way the wind is going, it's just swirling around in my yard.

Todd

S side POM has S winds right now. If you fly till sunset make sure to land on top of the hill prior to the wind dying down. No particular reason I would say this really, huh Jon Finch.

Awesome. I'm heading to the south side POM now then. Anybody care to join me? I'd love to see a combat plane or two show up, but I'm taking my sailplane as well.

Can't beat the price!
Holy Cow! That's an amazing price, and it's the exact same size as my Fliton Extra. Go for it man! Personally, I'd be tempted to recover it, but heck, if you like the color scheme, grab that baby and let's do some 3D formation flying!

Looks like the wind just shifted for N side sloping.

Unfortunately I can't make it tonight.

Todd is headed to the N side as the winds just changed.

Wind is N N W which should make for good sloping. Bummer I have nothing with me. This is where the fox will come in handy. I am thinking of pairing the fox with the Hobby City 2.4 radio so it can just hang out in the car for days like today.

Still at work. I'll have to be content with flying tomorrow.

Todd - here is some totally off topic video shot with your camera. Watch it on the Vimeo site to fully appreciate it.

PS. It's actually not video, it is timelapse stills.

Have we decided on an official meeting time tomorrow? 11:00? 12:00?

Todd -- I wish I would have checked the forum earlier! I came home from school a little earlier today specifically to fly. I was too lazy to make it down to PG Jr. High, so I ended up just flying circuits in my backyard for 45 minutes. I've been dying to try my hand at flying at the point. Anyway, the good news is that there was a neighbor who spotted my plane, and tracked me down to ask me about it. His name is Eric, and he is planning on bringing his son out to the sod farm tomorrow to check out the hobby. (Fair warning to Lee, I'm going to have him direct most of his questions to you! He really likes the Assassin.)

We will be flying behind the house on the east farm where we flew 2 x ago. Walk north on the gravel road 50 yards north . The west farm is still blocked with the sprinkler pipe.

I will be thre at 11:00 to set up.

Announcement: We are flying at the WEST sod farm this morning. The regular turn off is still blocked, however, if you go past that turn off, and take the next one (into their maintainance yard where all the tractors are) you can still get in. Drive East through the already-harvested dirt. (This is a "back door" in.)

EDIT: When driving across the already-harvest grass to get to the side where we're flying, PLEASE WATCH FOR THE "WATER RISERS" HALF-WAY THROUGH. (Short/Stubby Pipes sticking-up out of the ground.)

Fantastic Flying and more hits than maggots on a dead dawg!!!

What a day. Great weather,

The didn't want us flying over the new seed grass so they sent us back to the west sod farm and we used the equipment access road to get in.

I think Jeff and Todd and possibly Steve each had 30-50 hits.

The streamers and a target plane help to keep the group together.

Thanks again.

My face hurts from smiling so much!!!!~

Lee
