How to download earlier firmware

I went against my better judgement and went out and purchased a new Ice 100 (HV) and soldiered it to my motor and installed in my heli.
Setup is Outrage 550, Scorpion 4020-1100kv, 11T pinion, 8S 4000mah lipo, Gov High, flat TC of 67, 69 and 70.5, PWM Outrunner mode, timing of 0

Heli would start like normal (which entails switching TH off) and the first minute or so all would be normal. Then the power would drop about 10-15% as if someone hit a switch but I could continue flying. I would go up from "normal" TC (67) and up to idle 1 and the rest of the flight the power would stay the same but definately not "normal" power.

Tried several different bats of which most have less than 10-20 cycles.

So at this point, VERY frustrated with this and so I simply want to go back to 2.16 firmware (as many have suggested in other threads) but cant seem to find it on CC webpage (only can find revision history but no links to downloads).
Also, when I try to download the data, I keep getting an error code saying the data can't be parsed so I can't even see the darn data
Lastly, I've currently got Castle Link version 3.19 and whenever I open the program, it always says there's a "newer" version and when I open the update window in the program, it only has the CC web address with no version options.

Point is, where can I get the 2.16 version? I was able to find version 3.12 so should I download it and use it?

With Castle Link plugged in go to the software tab & you can choose the available version you want to use. 2.16 should still be available.

While on that page look at the top to see what version you are running...if you did not hit the upgrade tab from this page you are still running 2.16...

Thanks guys. I did some playing around with it but this time installed 3.19 on my older computer that was running Windows XP (originally I was using my laptop that has Windows Vista).
The funny thing is it all works like it's supposed to and now I can see that I guess the controller comes from the factory with 2.16 (remember I just bought new 2 days ago) and I don't dare update it to 2.18 out of fear of sudden ESC failure.
Can't figure why it won't run on the newer computer though?

I would but on the software tab, that's where I was saying that it only shows the CC web address instead of the normal screen that gives the option to update the firmware.

You may need to Run as Admin on vista.

I did run as Admin. Even made sure it had the correct .net software. Oh well, just won't be able to use the laptop (really sucks cause can't make adjustments at the field).

You may try uninstalling and then install as run as admin on the install...if that does not work...try calling tech support. I had mine working on Vista until I got tired of Vista and went back to Xp.

I've had some strange experiences with CastleLink recently on 2 XP machines. (I know you aren't on XP.)

The crux of it was that upgrading the firmware on an XP laptop (non-admin) left the HV45 unusable.

Repeating this on an XP desktop from an admin account worked ok. After that, I could edit the setting from the laptop (non-admin).

It's possible that once you have a good installation of 2.161 on your ICE, you'll be able to use CastleLink from your laptop for settings, logging, etc.

There's added confusion around 2.16 & 2.161. AIUI, 2.161 is 2.16 with minor tweaks to make it work properly with CastleLink. However, it appears as 2.16. So I'd guess that the '2.16' in CL 3.18, 3.19, etc is actually 2.161. Which is probably what you want...

Thanks again everyone. I'll try it again on my laptop now that it works fine on the older computer.
Ps: I had already uninstalled several times but no luck

to get castle link to run properly on my vista machine just running as admin wasnt enough.. disabling the user account control.. is what solved it for me.. "i also disabled windows defender but that was for a different reason" its quite easy to switch UAC off and back on without any issues give it a shot and reinstall the program
