Yeah, ok, I should have written "control surface". All control surfaces are called "ruder" in german.

Try mixing up a solution Durham's water putty and lightweight spackle. Mix it with water so it will brush on with a foam brush. Consistency should be like thick cream, let dry and block sand to fill in the pores of the foam A couple of coats and you get a pretty good finish.
Here is Sapac F22 that was prepped with this technique. |

wing with dihedral and Jedelsky like airfoil
Hi EPP specialists,
I follow this thread since its start and it helps me very much to build my own EPP indoor and outdoor flyers .But for two questions I still haven't found a solution I would like to implement (perhaps I have overseen it in this thread). For my son (6 3/4yrs) I build a very light and slow indoor flyer. To make flying as easy as possible for him I would like to control the plane only with elevator and rudder (and engine speed). Therefore I need ~ 8° dihedral and a bit more airfoil like wing with some camber(?) to get more lift. Do you have any ideas how to build the wing to get dihedral and more lift (Jedelsky like construction with ribs )to get a really slow flying indoor flyer...?Thanks for your help! Regards, Tom |

easy construction, very tough slow flyer. undercamber wings are quite easy to make. the thread is insanely long but the first post has the plans. make it from any 5 or 6mm sheet foam. maybe thinner for the 24. dihedral is in the plans though somewhat less that 8 degrees (that is a lot). |

I builded a Blu Dart for my son two years ago when he was 8.
Really easy to fly and very easy to build. Wery stable but also easy to have fun with, loops aroud its own axis. I could not get hold of EPP so I had to use 6mm Depron that is much more frigile, BUT it still flyes. If the chanse is that the plane will crash into peaces now and then, do not put to many work hours on it. Keep it cheap and simple and build a couple of them instead. All depends on how good pilot your son is. Last edited by petrik; Nov 19, 2009 at 04:59 AM. |
