Auto Gyro with pre-rotator

Recently I flew my new Auto Gyro with electric pre-rotator for the first time. The main rotor is started by a speed 280 motor which is controlled by a PIC micro controller. The total weight of the vehicle is about 700 grams and the rotor diameter is 980 mm.

Here is a video of the “almost” maiden flight, hope you like it!

By the way: I am 16 years old and I live in Norrkoping, Sweden (northern Europe)

BRILLIANT!!!!

You have done such a wonderful job on your little gyro. What motor do you use for the pusher, prop size and battery?

Are the black lines carbon fiber thread soaked in epoxy?

Nice flying....

Well Done !

Axel:

What they said ! Just brilliant and great flying too.

To all the other gentlemen, speak softly, we are probably conversing with a future aeronautical engineer.

Axel,

Yes! Very nice, indeed. I like the way you used the friction drive... I used to have a small eletric toy car when I was a child that used that same setup to drive the rear wheels. Very simple but very effective. Keep up the great work!

Axel,
You should be really proud of yourself!..that is a fine looking and flying Autogyro you have constructed and to do it at such a young age makes it even more special.

Well Done

Regards Rich

Hello, and thank you all very much. I am so glad you liked my Autogyro.

And Jochen, I must admit I have borrowed several ideas from your Minimum. Earlier this year I also made the autogyro in the image below. Do you recognise the tail?

I feel quite pleased when someone is liking my ideas enough to use them.

Hello,

Now I have improved the performance of my autogyro by adding more power. I have replaced the 3 cell LiPo with a 4 cell LiFe battery. At the same time I have swapped the prop to a bigger one. I have also made the landing gear slightly wider.

My location doesn’t offer the best photo light at this time of the year, but here is a new video: http://www.youtube.com/user/Axbri#p/a/u/0/BreWcXxmpdM

Regards, Axel
