My Hyperion DS09's have a weird double center like this too. It almost feels like the gears are lashed too tight and it can't mechanically return to center. No buzzing or weird binding noises.

Joe, what are you using on the control surface horn to keep your "L" bend from slipping off? No Z-bend there...

A bit of shrink tube with CA and also the linkage cover on the ailerons. The flaps can't come out anyway due to the narrow slot.

1.2mm and it is stiff enough.
I work hard on the hinge line. Use a triangular file on the top surface and gentle scraping on the bottom to get the aileron going up enough.
I think the idea of the cover is to have it just cover the horn, doesn't matter if it is same height at servo? Rudi just leaves it naked normally but I did see somewhere that he was using fairings (covers).

George, i don't know what is enough spoilers up at present. So going to try it and if needed i can work on the hinge. Don't see the point of doing anything on the bottom of the hinge in this case. It is clear the top skin is getting in the way.

Will use the covers this time on the ailerons. Will need to get rid of the last little bit of drag if i am to stand a chance beating the Germans.

There is no such thing as "enough" up. I put them on a two position switch, first is maybe "enough" and the second is all I can get, commensurate with 100% servo travel. If you are going to beat the Germans then you cannot afford to overshoot the landing circle!

Hey Joe

That's a great job on the flap linkage. Did you reverse the servo horn? That is have it pointing down?

Personally I still believe it could be done with RDS, but not by me.

David, correct.

I removed the flap servo horn then put it back on 180 degrees out.

To not have the horn poke through the top surface of the wing it has to be made pritty damn short. So short that even when i drilled the new hole right next to the servo output shaft, it still made a bulge in the top wing skin and subsequent not happy servo friction. So i removed a little bit of the top skin and put a small sticker over it. Now everything runs clear, smooth and slop free. Nothing poking out above the skin.

In order to then get enough movement of the flap the flap horn has to be pritty small also. I am now at 125% travel both ways on the servo to get full brakes down and some up aileron function. You can see how big the horn is, it's pritty tiny.

Hense it's no surprise the Germans have made the whole thing internal in their own home built planes. Not to mention the reduction in drag.

I am pritty happy with the end result. Only time will tell if it survives day to day opperation.

Joe
