A "new and improved" feature of this site seems to be a limit of 10 pictures per post.
That's fine most of the time, but I have a thread that's collecting slope soaring location information in my area. I update the first post with pictures and data so people don't have to wade through the whole thread, but sadly this update has put an end to that community service. Change is rarely a good thing, and this one really annoys me. Last edited by TSnake; Nov 05, 2009 at 12:41 PM. |

Actually after the upgrade the limit was _raised_ from 100 to 150 attachments per post. Please give me a link to the affected thread so I could check what's going on.

Thanks Mike,
Here's the link: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1094248 And here's a copy of the error message that I get every time I try to update post # 1: "You have included 97 images in your message. You are limited to using 10 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again". |

So it's about the images linked via the [img] bbcode. Interesting thing is that we have had the same limit in the older forum software, but apparently it never worked properly.
I'll raise it to 100, I think it's a reasonable number of the "outside" pictures per post. |

Thanks, but 100 isn't going to help me much, I'm already at 97.
So I can replace all the linked "outside" pictures with pictures uploaded to RC Groups. then have the 150 picture limit ? Funny, I actually thought that I was doing the right thing by trying to save RC Groups some bandwidth/storage space. Thanks Mike. |

Linking to the 3rd party image sites is a two-edged approach - on one hand, it saves the bandwidth and storage, on the other hand, sometimes those sites are unavailable (yes, even Photobucket!), or the linked picture may disappear from the source site, or what's worse, it may be replaced with an obnoxious image (it happened on our forums).
And since we are not constrained by the bandwidth and storage, we are actually encouraging the members to upload pictures to the forum. |

Thanks Mike,
I was just thinking..... if I upload all the images to RC Groups, I'll have no way to place them in the appropriate spot in the post, they'll all just appear at the end of the post....is that right ? |

No, not anymore.
You can insert the attached images from that post anywhere in the post text using the [attach] bbcode. If you have the enhanced post editor enabled in your forum options, there's even an interface for point-and-click attachment insertion. After you have uploaded an attachment, look for the paperclip icon ( ) in the editor toolbar.

Two batteries can be wired together in either series: or in parallel: Well, that didn't work. I thought the pictures themselves would show up but they don't. What am I doing wrong? |

Sorry, I'm trying to add the attachment description in the ALT tag and it doesn't go well so far.

Now it works! Before I was just seeing lines of text describing the attachments, but now the images are there.

That is very cool.
Just in case anyone can't figure it out..... -Settings and options -Edit options -Miscelaneous options -Message editor interface -In the drop down menu, select Enhanced interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing -Save changes Then to insert a picture, mid text.... -Upload an image as normal -Go advanced -Click on the part of the text where you want to insert the image -Click on the paperclip symbol -Click on the image label, and it'll be inserted in the selected spot. -The picture will automatically disapear from the bottom of the post, and appear in the position selected. Just like this !!! Thanks Mike, I really appreciate your help. Last edited by TSnake; Nov 05, 2009 at 02:46 PM. |

Actually I was a bit wrong - it works in the standard editor as well. Just not in the basic editor (a simple text box), though of course you can still insert the [attach] bbcode manually, if you are able to figure out the attachmentid for the needed attachment.
