Guys, a friend of mine is making a hobbyking order and i was thinking of getting a new main brushless for the g3 but wanted to get some opinions on any of the motors hk sells. Im running the walkera brushless main esc combo now and like it alright but i'd like to have a spare incase something bad happens. Thanks

jgupton...I'd suggest you speak directly to Don about this conversion. If it can be done it will be well worth the effort imo. Thanks for the link re the gyro..favourited.

Yes you are right...XP7a is a PPM esc but too slow. Easy way to tell is to look at the imput side...most of the pwm esc's have a lone white signal wire that would plug into the brushed port.
The XP7a is great for the main.

Yup - looks like he's closing up shop - going to miss his great prices and service.

No worries on the link - will keep my eyes open on this topic as it seems like a great idea. Will post this question in the 2801 thread(s), but I haven't been able to figure out how to assign the id in the TX. Well, the assigning isn't a problem, but figuring out how that ID matches with the heli rx is another matter.

Situation occurs because the gyro initializes very fast but the rx doesn't although the power gets to the gyro....so the gyro tries to initialize but does not get a signal. A teeny inline switch on the power in between the rx and gyro would over come that problem. After rx initialises switch the gyro power off and back on.

I think the 2801 pro allows for assigning a guid for a model...kinda like model match so you can't select your 4g3 settings and try to bind to your 2801 pro rx in a 450 for eg. Maybe this process binds immediatly or faster than the 2801

Re the BA gyro..its a rate gyro only....not really worth it although it may be less sensitive to vibes.
Not many HH gyros available that work on 1s.

Wk tail esc....nope won't work. It uses pwm input from the brushed port. Need a ppm esc (like the wk main esc...plugs into a 3 pin port) but something that is super fast. PPM flea is the best option.

Just to close the loop on this, it appears that the ID assignment is only valid on the 2801 RX and is not an option for the 2605 or the 2609. So w/out a power switch or bind and then re-hook the battery each time, the gyro would have to have a longer init. sequence.

Every time mine got bent I'd just carefully hold the motor and bend the shaft back a little with my thumb nail. Then test with a tooth pick held on the boom to ensure both ends of the blade are straight (same distance from boom when rotated). Works great for me.

It may just be the tail blade too. I find they loose their integrity after a while even though no crack is evident ...one side will be weaker and tracking is out.
I have straightened my 2.9 shaft a few times by hand. The 2.6 shaft seems hardened...yet to bend one. If you need to replace the shaft maybe a shortened main shaft would work. Have to drill out the prop but won't have to order anything!

Remove the bell, teeny circlip, drill a hole in a block of wood for the shaft to go through, sit the bell on the wood with shaft imbedded, heat up the bell with a soldering iron or jet lighter and punch it out.

I use one of these to hold the shaft and just twist the bell off. It's not on as tight as everyone thinks. I use these heli motors in planes which means that I have to turn the shafts over to the other side.

Thanks greatly for all the answers -- I figured I could just bend it back but wondered what everyone else was doing. Knowing now they are brittle I am gonna count how may times I straighten it lol hehehehe --

Hello, I'm new to this form and have a question about battery life.
I have a 4g3 double brushless wk main and 2g tail. I seem to only get 4-5 minutes (with no 3d flying) from the 600mah packs that I bought from WOW. When I charge them they only take 290-330mah. Is this the norm?

Thanks

It depends on the capability of the battery to deliver the peak currents necessary. I get ~ 6 minutes with an Oversky 400 mAh battery with 3.75V still in the battery and put back about 330 mAh or so sport flying.

Why do you stop flying after only using 330 mAh from a 600 mAh, it should be able to do 480 mAh or so. Unless the battery is weakening. What is your voltage at the end of a flight?

Also the 600 mAh cells weigh more than the Oversky batteries.

The heli won't fly anymore and I lose the tail if i continue to push it.
The volatage in the pack is about 3.78 to 3.80. I was thinking that I should also get more out of these packs then the 4-5 minutes. They are only about 2 weeks old and are the 600mah 20c packs that WOWHobbies.com sells.
