I think the little feet are some sort of symbol for wind strength. I'm not sure if it's Beaufort scale or something else, but there's always more of them when the wind is stronger, sometimes 3 or 4 bars.

Jeff can't go until later so I'm planning on meeting him at the trailhead at 2. Is that too late for you, Dave?

Good news. The forecast is still calling for 15 mph south wind all afternoon. If we're lucky, we could get 20+ at Ensign.

Good wind yesterday. Thanks for flying with me. I can see that on high wind days, I need to come up with a better ballast solution for my Stryker (I flew with 6 rocks taped to the fuse yesterday).

Now I'm just dying to get a lightning fast slope plane like the JART, but I just don't want to spend several hundred dollars. Does anyone make a JART-like plane that's less expensive? It doesn't have to be totally ballistic, just "fast enough".

Did some sunrise sloping on the south side today. Lift was iffy at best. When I got there it looked decent but by the time I got all my gear out the wind had died. JART had about a 45 second flight terminated by a 1 point landing a little ways down the slope.

I put up the extreme wing and found some occasional pockets of lift but nothing spectacular.

Any one flying this afternoon?

Bummer Jim! the infallible PotM has failed you. I can't pull away from work again this week, but I am up for next week. I am dying to get back to PotM. I want to try a "slope transfer" where I fly off the north slope and then "transfer" in the air up to the big slope behind the slope. Does that even make sense?

This one looks good, and is less expensive than the JART but still a bit pricey.

Seerspaz was selling a few gliders a couple months ago. I recall that the prices were very reasonable. It might be worth sending him a pm to see if he's still selling anything. Also, he flies regularly with the POM hardcore slopers, so he might be willing to ask around for you to see what the guys are selling. Jfinch also might be a good person to ask about anyone locally who's selling.

Here is one that's pretty much ready to fly for $150 if you can get him to ship it.

Looks like Tuesday at lunch time is shaping up to be another good sloping day. Anyone interested?
