Just got the kit version in ebay. Curious to compare the kit and the plans for differences, specially in the fuselaje size. Planing in making a mold out of the kits fuselaje so I can make a couple more so I can make one with much longer wings and one may be with a motor on the nose (electric)

Something you may not know is that the fuse in the kit could be plastic or fiberglass depending whether it was early or late kit. Early kits had fiberglass and Dumas later switched to a less expensive plastic fuse.
I see you have fiberglass.

Nice work Botijo!

Here is a picture of my Mod Pod during construction from the original Dumas kit. This version had the fiberglass pod and the shells were badly warped from sitting in the box for 30+ years. I was able to straighten them out when joining the halves and ended up with a decent looking pod. I filled in the wing saddle with micro-balloons and epoxy to match the wing because the molded saddle was not accurately made.

Lately I've been flying my Mod Pod on the slope and it's very easy to slope soar. the semi-symmetric airfoil prefers this type of flying over thermal soaring.

Thanks for the kind wrds. Yeah I seen kits with white and yellow pod. Comparing the kit to the scratch build from the plans they are very simmilar. I think th emain difference is the spar which in the plan version is made from arrow shats and in the kit is wood. The tail is a bit different also.
Not sure if I can make a mold out of the original but making a mold from the plans will be easy. PLaning in making a full mold, covering it all with glass and then carfully cutting it on half to pull the mold out, Then I can glue then back together probably easier.
Oh with the electric setup in mine I can actualy takeodd from wet grass and taxi arounf

Hey mlbco, what is you empty weight before radio and stuff? Just curious as the kit build wing seems much heavier than the scratch build

Botijo,

I built the model a year ago and I didn't weigh it before installing everything. It's definitely not a lightweight floater and the wood in the kit was pretty hard, heavy stuff. That's not too unusual for a wing that doesn't use an I-beam spar or a D-tube wing construction.
