I just went down and looked at the sod farm. The west sod farm road is blocked with water pipes. Jon has talked to the manager and he is OK with us flying but wants us behind the house on the East Sod farm where we had the UnCivil War 2X ago. Park behind the white house and walk north along the gravel road to where the established grass is. Please try to stay off of the newly seeded area.

I'll be there at 11:00 to set up. No food is planned.

Fantastic Flying and more hits than maggots on a dead dawg!!!

What a day. Great weather,

The didn't want us flying over the new seed grass so they sent us back to the west sod farm and we used the equipment access road to get in.

I think Jeff and Todd and possibly Steve each had 30-50 hits.

The streamers and a target plane help to keep the group together.

Thanks again.

My face hurts from smiling so much!!!!~

Thanks guys, and girl....it was a blast. I lost track of hits as well. Stealing the ribbon and getting it stolen and stealing it back, on 2 different flights was pretty awesome. The on one eventful flight, I lost my plane in the glare of the sun, lost orientation and pulled up, the plane went towards the ground, I had it saved, when one of the big wheels on the sprinkler pipe all of a sudden moved right in front of my plane. The pics below tell the rest of the story. I wish I could say that it was a spectacualr hit that did the damage but may it was a hit-tacular day anyways.

Ryan, can wait to see the combat video.

CNA, I blew my small wing in half hitting that sprinkler wheel as well. Looked a lot like yours. I'm glad I had a second wing today. I know some people came with four planes and went home with four repair jobs, so losing one wasn't so bad.

Okay
, so today was officially the most violent combat I've had in the past half-decade of weekly flying.
First, I have to say "thanks" to all the northerners who took the time to come down and provide us a target-rich environment

Second, I have to say "thanks" to Lee for being our EPP drug dealer... without his easily procured "under the counter" dealing, we simply wouldn't have the same highly addictive experience that we do on a weekly basis.

And wow, what an insane day. By the time the last victim left the field I'd chalked up somewhere near 60 hits. It seems insane, but when you count streamer cuts as hits, the activity goes way up. But the full-contact combat was hugely violent today as well. I had a couple of "firsts" in combat today... I've had servo wire sliced in the past, but today Jeff cut through the body of my plane right in the middle (tore out a 4" chunk of foam) and sliced the ESC lead to the receiver... not once, but twice. Good thing I brought the soldering iron today!

Another "first" for me today was pretty scary. I'd just put in one of my brand new Turnigy Lipos and started flying (it was fully charged) and I got a couple of really violent hits right off the bat... one of them sliced through my hard plastic battery bay cover. I didn't think too much of it, threw the plane up again to fly and got very weak battery performance. So I crashed, and when I opened it up to see what was going on, the prop strike that went through the battery cover had SHATTERED the plastic balance tap lead, I had four loose exposed wires touching and shorting. They'd melted through the battery cover and the pack was hot... I could hear a sizzling sound when I opened the plane up and WOW that could have been a fireball. I'm gonna solder on a new balance lead and see if the battery is okay. I doubt it because the prop also sliced a big hole in one of the cells.

The show-stealer for me however was one of the one-two streamer stealing events, one that will likely never be reproduced. Steve had just taken off again with his two black/yellow plastic streamers, and I'd been zooming back and forth trying to cut them. Finally, I came in for a straight-on dive and hit dead center, about 4 feet behind his plane, cutting both streamers at the same time with my wing tips and capturing both streamers, one on each winglet. Seriously what are the chances of that happening?!!!!! One in a million shot!

I lost one of the streamers doing repeated victory rolls and had one on my left wing still. Wanting his streamer back, Steve dove on me and stole that streamer back - with his motor, which was still spinning. Of cousre the streamer wrapped around and bound up his motor. It was hugely satisfying to see a plane with THREE streamers going down.

Anyway, one of the best days of flying I've ever had. Sorry for all those who missed it. Huge Huge hits, tons of insane crashes. I heard people yell out several times "It's raining planes!", and it truly was.

It's okay... winter can go ahead and come now. I'm happy!

The sight of my Assassin being drug across the sky and half way across the field by the S7 was wonderful. I was chasing the S-7 and got a few hits on the plane and streamers when out of no where my prop caught the streamer and the streamer did not break but drug me like a water skier who should have let go of the rope. I followed that S7 all the way to the crash site!!!!! It was awesome.
As for hits today, well I dont know, maybe a 500. It was soo intense that I could not do anything other than fly, swap packs, fly, swap packs, all day. It was insane the smackdown that was today. We were all definetely on one today.

Thanks to the Yanks who were man enough to come fly with the Rebels we had a very target rick environment.....

Thanks to everyone who made today EPIC!!!!!!

And special thanks to Officer Dan for the 1/2 time show... It must have been painful to watch and not be able to fly today.

Just for those who missed the fun. Combat started at 11:30 and the same round of combat was still going when I left at 3:00. It was absolutely insane and very therapeutic.

Todd I am not ready for winter and am looking forward to global warming to extend the flying season.

Here we go but before you watch this please know that the video quality is really bad, the screen changes are one right after the other, the music is the same as last time I shot a video, and I tend to fly erratically when I'm trying to hit other planes.

Nice footage. I didn't know that Adrian's planes could autorotate. That could save lives if designed like that for full scale.
