Exactly - the regular BEC is so light, I would use a dedicated one for rudder.

RC Man: Do you guys ever use decoupling capacitors for high draw servos? I have one in the tail of my AVA as I have two Hitec 5125's back there (overkill, I know!) - 100uF 16V I believe..

You're not running a capacitor in series with the power line are you? That's what a decoupling cap is. You must mean you running the capacitor in parallel on the power lines. Otherwise you'd have a real hard time getting those servos to wiggle at all...

That depends on the helicopter. For the small helicopters I just hook it up and go fly.

For my large very expensive helicopters I am very conservative. I put a large capacitor and diode between the battery and BECs. I wire it to the battery so that if the ESC burns up the BEC will continue to have power. Unfortunately this has been test with a total ESC burn up and the BECs continued to work.

I also use a large capacitor on the radio side. One for the rudder and one for everything else. The size of the capacitor depends on the space available but I use a 2700 @ 10v. I do a bit of electronics tinkering so I have a few high quality capacitors on hand. If you do use extra capacitors get some good quality ones.

Sorry - yes, in parallel.

Not on 12S...

The main reason I'd go with the Pro model is to be able to use it on 12S directly. If a CC BEC (6S model) is included in the system for dedicated tail rotor service, what is going to be its source of power? I'm tired of tapping into the Y of a 6S + 6S pack connection and would rather pull power from the common output of 12S together.

Oh well, I'm not a 'stick banger' anyway so 5.3V airborne power should be good for me.

Thanks for posting this. I did not realize that Tower Hobbies had them in stock now. Mine is now on its way.

Because only Great Planes (Tower) placed a large initial order for the CCBEC Pro.

When is Tower going to get's its order in? It states the stock status as "On Order" but can any Castle rep provide any estimate of when Tower will have the BEC in stock? As of yet, they don't even have an expected delivery date.

Got a CC BEC Pro for my 70e biplane and So far I have to say I'm impressed. 2/3 the price for the Western Robotics 5A continuous which was my previous favorite but after scoping both in similar setups, the CC Bec cleans the Western Robotics clock.

The lowest I could force the CC Bec on 6S 6V with 4 full sized servos was 5.92V. The WR I could actually get to take hits down to 4.2 Course the problem was, under extreme simultaneous servo use, the WR 5A continuous bec just ran out of headroom. The "20 amp" CCBec pros actual sustaned 12+ amps really kept the power flowing no matter what, so 2 to 3 times the power headroom for $40. not bad at all!
