Ken,

It seems that both the B-25 and P-40 were waiting for their mission.

Yes they do. As a matter of fact both types of aircraft operated out of the Darwin area during WWII. But the were based at different airfields.

Try Again

P40MPG2 640X480 (0 min 49 sec)

Don't know if I did this video post right.
If I did, hope everybody gets a few laughs.
Way to windy, ..........for me anyway.
My wife did the camera work, and I set the zoom too wide.
So, I deleted most of it because I did'nt think anybody wanted to watch a spec do loops and rolls in the sky.
The plane has never launched like the 1st try before, the 2nd is more like it usually does.

Will try again, RUD

LOL it is ok RUD, the first time I asked my wife to record a flight (I think it was on my EDF F-15) the sun was setting and because of where we had to stand in relation to the runway (a.k.a. the middle school running track) the setting sun was in her eyes on every pass, she gave up filiming after a while she got tired of getting blinded. Good flight though, I haven't got the guts to hand launch mine yet.

Hi Rudderless,

I have to say that hand throw looked abit underpowered. Mine normally tip stall if I do that Still with all that power shown with the low pass its not an issue!

HEY SKY, at least we have wives who put up with us.

Thanks, RUD

HEY NICK, the problems are, the neighbors complain about rattling windows, and the fuel costs are a bit much. (love that BRIT humour)

Thanks, RUD.

Finally, a successful maiden of my GWS-40.
Hyperion 3007-30, APC 11x5.5, Phoenix 25, 3s 1300mah battery, 4xHXT900, AR6110, 750g AUW (it's EPO, so heavier than usual).

First two attempts over the spring/summer ended up in a torque roll into the ground. I had a friend hand-launch it for me this time - run fast and throw hard. It needed a lot of trim, but flew really nicely once trimmed out. I need either a bungee or a dolly, I suppose. It's not an easy hand-launch plane.

All in all, definitely a keeper, will now finish it in winter Russian scheme.

Fellow GWS P-40 owners!! Question. Do any of you have any ideas or recommendations for a set of fixed landing gear that will allow me to use bigger, thicker wheels than the provided stock GWS gear? I wan't to put some larger wheels on for grass field flying but the hubs for all of my wheels are too thick. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Well....dizam!!!!

Trying to bring my Warhawk around for a landing because I knew it was getting too windy and wouldn't you know it, a strong gust caught me, put me in a spin I couldn't get out of and splat!! Initial review it looks like a new cowl and new motor mount for sure. I think I got all of the pieces so I can glue it back together. If it is too far gone I may just write it off and put the gear into something else. I would hate to as I love the P-40 airframe and I really, really like this GWS version. This repair might see a repaint, who knows. Oh well, it happens to the best of us.

That's easily repairable. It still sucks to loose one like that though.

I just glassed my new cowl. I need to sand it and paint it before I fly the plane again.
