The initial idea was to show DLG contest information. If someone wants to mark a club field location where DLG or HL is flown regularly, that wouldn't be a bad idea. I think it would be good to include information in the dialog box that explains what the location is. I don't think we should try to mark every small park or field where people fly HL models. That would get so many pins as to make it hard to see where the contests are. A separate map could be made for that.

Phil,

As usual, I'm guilty of not being specific.

I should have noted that Olympia, WA has several contests scheduled, as does Portland, OR and Poway. Since the map shows only a single location for each, if the purpose of the map was to show contest activity it really doesn't.

I'm not trying to be negative, I was just wondering what the map was intended to show. The European map looked like it was intended to show Eurotour events, I suspect they also have many smaller events that weren't shown.

For sites that have multiple events within the same year, I would suggest adding that information to the dialog box for that pin. Either type in the information or just put a link to a web site with the information. This way, someone can click on the pin and find the information. I'm just making this up as we go along and I'm sure that what comes out will be different from the initial intent.

Phil,

When I posted our club it was just to show location. If anyone wants to fly with us they are more than welcome. I have a suggestion for the map. With you as editor, you can go and click on each one of the markers and assign it a color or even a different icon. When you are in the edit mode if you click on the marker or push pin (whatever) you'll see another box pop up with a whole bunch of colored and symbolic icons. You could say something like:

Red marker indicates a contest
Blue marker indicates a club or field
Etc.

John

PS We had a series of events in So Cal, but that was in the fall. Torrey Pines still has a monthly contest, I believe.

I have already been editing to some degree. I've changed the pin colors more than once in an attempt to indicate contest series. As of the time I am writing this:

Red markers are for the NWSS series.
Yellow markers are the Blue Skies series.
Green markers are the ESL contest series.

Blue thumb tacks were marking single contest locations or other random sites.

It begins to look as if there are only the three contest series. I expected there to be more than that. If/when people add more pins to mark other DLG events, we may find a more meaningful use for the pin colors. Lets just see what happens.

For some, Canada is only a step away.
If you care for some early summer HLG action, come and join us on May 24th, North of the border, only 30min up HW416.
If you are interested to come drop me a PM.

I hope nobody minds, I've added pins for the Downeast Soaring Club and the Granite State Quiet Fliers. Both clubs hold one-design gambler contests.

I've updated my pushpin for WI. I'm not sure if this map is going to be used again this year, but I'm all for reusing it. If it is going to be reused for the upcoming year, I suggest any updates should have "2009" in the pushpin notes to help determine what is new and what is old.

MVSA 2 day Contest

I've edited the pin for MVSA in St. Louis, MO to include a 2-day handlaunch contest we're hosting May 30-31.

More information is available on our website - www.mvsaclub.com.
