Hello Miminem,
I'm working at HHI, just across the street from the Hyundai department store.
I built a Trex 450 SE and a Trex 600, both electric, so if you ever need any help with the build, or learning to fly I'll be glad to lend a hand.
I'm waiting for my shipment from the United States, I shipped my Trex 450 and tools. But while I'm waiting I was thinking of buying something new while I'm here.
I found the ACE model store near Ulsan station today but they were closed. It didn't look like they had much in there when I looked in the window. Not sure if they can order stuff though. Where is the other RC shop?
Also, last weekend as I was flying in from Seoul, looking out the window just before landing I saw some people flying a RC plane near the river just north of the airport. I tried finding that area today, but I didn't have any luck.
I haven't gotten a mobile phone yet but once I do I'll send you a private message with my number. I live in Bangojin near the Pizza Palm and Ballantine bar.

Rob

I am in the old foreigner compound, not far the Hyundai store.
I got almost all my stuff through ebay, at good prices.
Let me know when you have your mobile, some help will be appreciated for tuning and flying.

Hi all,

Has anyone heard of any restrictions on the use of 2.4 ghz radios here in Korea? I've seen a few fairly old posts regarding the issue but nothing seems to be definite. I've visited a few hobby shops in Seoul and asked what the rules were. Some folks have said that it was illegal, others have said otherwise. But I presume that there are some fliers here that are using 2.4 ghz radios.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, bornslippy,

I just found some good news for you. On a daum.net cafe it was announced that 2.4 GHz system will be getting approval in Korea. I don't see any problem with you using this newer and safer system in Korea.

I used to fly RC in Korea for several years. I used a 72 MHz channel that was not allowed in Korea but no one ever bothered to restrain me. You have to show compliance only in contests.

I have been looking into getting the new Walkera 4#3b 2,4GHz here in Korea but could not find one locally so I emailed Walkera and this is the response I received today:

"4#3B is very popular.
But in Korea, you need the certificate of 2.4G transmitter.
Helis with 2.4G transmitter are not allowed to sell in your country.
That's why you can't buy one in your country. we can't sell without the certificate too.
Sorry."

I'm guessing that if 2.4 is being approved it has not happened yet or at least Walkera is not aware of it yet.

With regards to hobby stores if anyone is still looking for some,
www.rclabshop.co.kr has a decent selection and Mr. Jonghoon Park has been extremely helpful and in English too.
http://www.korearc.co.kr/shop.html has a huge listing of stores.

http://www.lxmodel.net
http://www.electricrc.co.kr

are two more that I have heard of but not tried as of yet.

I'm flying mostly by myself and occasionally with two friends here in Chuncheon, either at a University soccer field or a construction site near my home. The weather has been super hot, humid and rainy the last while though so mostly building and minimal flying as of late. If anyone is in the area and wants to fly or build (or learn, I'll gladly share any of my very limited knowledge in building or flying planes. I have a mode 1 transmitter to use as a trainer also for anyone that is of the mode 1 orientation ) send me a PM and if I'm available and the weather is playing along we could definitely arrange something.

Bob
