hyperactive world models super cub

Hi guys as the title states I am about to comit aeromodelling with a new tow plane project and definately not for the faint hearted!

The project is a 1/3rd world models super cub to 3.5 meters span and will be powered with 3w 157cs developing 19 horsepower. the finished weight I am told is in the region of 28lb. So neadless to say there will be no shortage of power, the downside is I don't get my airframe till late April. DOH!!!!, but I do have the motor and canisters.mmmmm red heads....

cheers Rossco

will keep you posted.

Howdy Rossco,

Just received my World Models Super Cub and was wondering how you are proceeding with yours. I'm thinking in terms of a DA-85 as I understand the power is very close to the 100 twin with about 2 pounds less weight. I wonder if that airframe can deal with the power of a 157.

I checked out the Robart scale gear as the gear that comes with the ARF is less than impressive. The Robart gear is 1-1/4" wider than the World Cub. I ordered it anyway and hope to modify it to fit.

Planning to start work on this in early June. Let's stay in touch and compare notes. Should be a dandy tow plane.

Regards,

Steve

i there Steve I binned the idea after I saw one of there J3's fly at the Jerildery Aerotow being blown aroud in the wind when comparedto Bill Blands 1/3rd Rosenthel Bird Dog that wasn't effected at all, so plan B was to order one of HD Model designs Cessna 150's but that seems to have gone south with no delivery several months on....plan C is a 3.1 meter Extra 260 from Extreme composites (the hobby shop I work for imports them) so now I just have to see how much I get back on my tax return get my car put on gass as the price of fuel has jumped from $1.20 a litre to a whopping $1.70 a litre while LGP (liquid Patrolium Gas) is still at $ .65a litre..... I'll get there one day!
