I have read and heard that this should not be done, that it may damage the charger. because it produces spiky power in so much as it'll tear up the electronics due to being totally unfiltered and half wave rectified. Lead acid batteries don't mind this, but it's next to the worst thing you could do.. the worst would be powering a charger with raw AC

That will smooth out the power to the airplane charger. ===== Pete Foss Skymasters RC of Michigan http://www.skymasters.org *** Any complaints or problems? It depends on the charger as well. Some are more tolerant of imperfect DC power than others. I ran my hobbico mark2 charger on my car batt charger for over a year with no problems other than the fact that since the car chargers output was not voltage regulated, if I put too high a load on it, ( fast charging) the car chargers output voltage would drop too far and cause the hobbico to blow its own fuse. Slow charging worked fine however. I'm now using one of the cosel power supplies and no longer have that problem. $19 well spent IMHO. Al-Tech Nice to be able to fast charge at home.
