This is my first attempt at flying the Kquad Portable in FPV mode:
The video recording was done with a second receiver inside the house so it had dropouts that I did not see in the googles. I'm most happy that I was able to take off and land without crashing during my first FPV flight. I figured that if Rusty crashed his UAVP the first time in FPV mode that I would likely do the same with the Kquad.
Flying FPV is quite thrilling. With the HeadPlay googles it felt like I was up with the Kquad. I was also very happy that my newly designed 2.4 Ghz converter board worked perfectly. I would have never attempted FPV using the Berg receiver because of interference from the 900 Mhz video transmitter.
I was going to try and get even closer to myself during the landing but it was a bit unnerving to hear the increasing sound of the rotors during the approach. I'm sure I can do better in future flights. Next step is to remount the FPV camera on the forward arm so that I can hang my normal wide screen recording camera under the frame.
Fun Stuff!
