P-47 D25 Scratcbuild

-------------- Hello All ! ---------------

First of all, my name is Conrad Manea, i'm from Romania and togeter with my friend Popa, have a single nik: jimmymugurel.
2. - My english sometimes is $%&*#@$~ but, I hope You'l understand at least 50% the meaning of my words.
3. - A Happy 2007 for you!.....and all your dreams became true!

Since july 2006,have started a new project: P-47 Thunderbolt.
For three months, making researches, to find the propper documentation.
With the help of my few friends( staic scale modellers, with a lot of experience and a lot of documentation),manage to bring togeter, photos, details, drawings and so on.
A hrad part of work, was to select just that sort of doccu ,that reffer on P-47 Bubbletop.
Studying the aviable plans ( of the real plane ) got to decide what is the closest to the reality.
After a comparing,I decided to use a Polish set of plans for the side/up/bottom/front/back/sections and other good detail drawings, and for the panel/rivetts/hatches a.s.o. using some good drawings found in Scale Aviation Modeller, and no.14 Aero Detail ( verry good ones! ).
For some good detail photos, find on the NET a couple of sets,a kind of walkaround, very good quality photos made probably by amator photographers ( my opinion ).
Must mention that the plans reffers to variant D-25, so the profiles must be also about this variant.By pure luck found more oneside profiles with Gaby Gabreski's plane, and after a couple of weeks ( again by luck ), find a complete 4 view profile.
Had some problems by determing again, what profile is closer to Gaby's plane, becose on more single sideviews find a lot of diferences. After finding ( hardly ) some black-white and colour archive photos, with Gaby and his plane, be able to make an overall image.

First of all printed the plans on A3 paper, to observ the main characteristics of the plane ( till now, P-47 was a stranger for me ).By-the-way, my dream machine is Me 109 G-6.
By the kindness of my dear friends, I put togeter a number of books, about this plane, or containing everything close to it.
Only after a hard selectiv work, I extract those photos or drawings that offer interest for me.
Only this pages were scaned and printed separately.
Here is a list of books, that were the base of documentation:
Aero Detail P-47 Thunderbolt
Aerodata 006 P-47 Thunderbolt
Aircam Republic P-47 Thunderbolt In Usaaf-Raf-Foreign Service
Detail & Scale -054 - P-47 Thunderbolt
Flug Revue P-47 Thunderbolt
In Action P-47 Thunderbolt
Kookabura 001 P-47 Thunderbolt
MBI - P-47 Thunderbolt
Monografie Lotnice 026 P-47
Monografie Lotnicze 025 - P-47
Mustang And Thunderbolt Aces Of The Pacific
P-47 Thumderbolt Bubbletop
P-47 Thunderbolt Aces of the Eighth Air Force
P47 Thunderbolt Aces Of The 9th And 15th Air Forces
Profile Aircraft P-47
Squadron Signal P-47 Thunderbolt in the European Theater
Squadron-Signal P-47 Thunderbolt in the Pacific Theater
Tornado - Airwar P-47 Thunderbolt
Walk Around - Republic P-47 Thunderbolt
Warpaint P-47 Thunderbolt
When all was put togeter, had to determin the scale of the modell, based on the engine ( YS 140 Yamada 4T ) and the rectract mechanism Eurokit 9Kg.
The final dimensions became 1700mm. wingspan and total estimated weight max 6500gr.It's not a round number on scale ,but that is not a problem....for me!.
After enlarging and printing the plans, need to make a working copy of the plans, with the place of all the components needed by an R/C model ( servos, controls, engine pos. fuel tank, retracts and so on )....lot of work and a hard one!

October 2006 :finishing all the paperwork and all the samples for fuse and wings.
From now, starting the part what I enjoy better: working the wood!
Profiles and plans
Your's Jimmy
