Pigi vs. newer 3D planes

I've been out of the hobby for a while now but have finally finished some planes I bought a couple of years ago. One of the planes I finished and started flying is the Pigi from Hobby Lobby.

I've read through all the posts on the Pigi but most of them are from a while back. I've got it flying OK but I'm getting pretty short flight times out of my lipo batteries. With a TP 3C 2100mah lipo I only get about 5 minutes flying at half throttle. With an older Irate 3C 2600mah lipo I get maybe 7 minutes.

My question is are those normal flying times for the Pigi setup? I've got the PJS 3D 1000, Jeti 30-3P, HS-55 servos, Hitec 555 receiver, and the lipos I mentioned.

With the flying times so short with decent batteries I'm tempted just to retire the plane and get a newer foamy like the E-flite Yak. The Pigi is a big airplane with lots of amp draw and would seem to require a big expensive battery to get decent flight times. Maybe the new planes are just such an improvement it doesn't make sense to invest more in this plane?

Just wanted to hear some opinions on the Pigi vs. the newer and lighter planes like the E-flite Yak or even the Extemeflight Yak.
