No. The two control types are not compatible with both motor types. Clarifying what I meant may be warranted. I meant that a newbie might buy a brushed speed control to go with his GWS Beaver kit. My rational was that he would eventually go to a brushless setup and have to buy another speed control. Why not just buy a brushless controller to start with and put an inexpensive brushless motor into the GWS gearbox and shelf the 350c that came with the kit. I am looking at:

for my Beaver. This diy kit is only $35 Can. I have spent about $90 in a year replacing the brushed 350's that only last a dozen or so flights. If the Beaver lasts more than four dozen flights like mine, you'll be ahead by starting off brushless. The performance issues are another kettle of fish also.
