Blade runner mods (good ones)

Blade runner problems
Over the last few days we have encountered a number of problems with my son’s new blade runner and thought others might benefit from the solutions we found.

Charging – The unit did not charge, with the light on the controller flashing randomly. Solution, bend the contacts very slightly to the side, on the helicopter. This will increase the contact with the charging lead. We have had to do this a few times, but the charge time is approx 20 to 30 minutes and give good flight time e.g. 4 to 5 minutes.

Trim problems – The unit would not stop spinning to the left, even with full trim to the right. Solution, the trim switch operates be increasing or decreasing the speed of the rotor. The rotor need to be creating equal amounts of force to counteract each other and allow the helicopter to remain stable and not spin. If the unit is spinning to the left (anticlockwise) very gently increase the bend along the length of the plastic wings in the upper rotor, particularly at the ends. Additionally, remove some of the bend in the lower rotor. This may take a couple of attempts. The affect of this is to allow the upper rotor to have more power and so overcome the turning force the lower rotor is generating (If spinning clockwise do the opposite with the rotor)

Forward/backward movements – Remove the circle of plastic around the tail rotor, this gives the rotor more force and allows the helicopter to move quicker in the forward and reverse direction. (this works very well.)
