Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) Video Sample

Here is a side-by-side video comparison with two Mobius cameras in very low lit outdoor scenes, with one having WDR turned on and one with it turned off. Best viewed on the Vimeo site with HD turned on in full screen mode.

I can definitely see improved illumination in low lit areas of the ground scenes, at the expense of some video noise. But in the last fireworks clips, I not only see a lot more video noise in the dark sky areas, I also see less over-exposure of the very bright fireworks traces with WDR on. This surprised me, and suggests that maybe there is compensation to reduce over-exposure as well as under-exposure with WDR on.

I wish I could test the fireworks scene with WDR off and with the auto-exposure turned down to see if that produces better fireworks exposure with also less video noise (as I would expect).

Maybe you have a different opinion?
