I hope your new doctor does know that it's not an allergy but a genetic disorder that if not treated correctly with diet can lead to other auto-immune disorders. It's also genetic so family members need to be aware.
My wife and her mother were diagnosed within a year of each other. It sucked at first but we got used to the different diet. She has in fact gained weight and we're all healthier on the new diet. Gluten is not a happy thing to begin with.
I do hope you don't have to deal with the issues of Celiac's but there is a lot of misinformation out there and many doctors are honestly lost at diagnosing it. It's more often a false negative then a false positive.
But anyway I'll be eating like a pig at SEFF gluten or no gluten! Can't wait!
