600m is not nice for any transmitter, considering LRS is designed for FPV. Even 2.4 FrSky can go now from 5 to 60km. So, to be called "Long range" it should work at least for 10km. Otherwise it's better to buy FrSky without any playing with crappy firmware...

btw, there is no any risk to do ground range test, unless you live underground...
