What board types should be chosen in thundead?
For thundead you select the M2 TX and RX. You should note that the markkings on oRx are off in this case.
For openLRSng I added some output on serial on RX startup which should help analyse trouble.
With OpenLRSng the binding mode on tx is signaled by tx emitting short 'clicks at around 5Hz'.
Then power on RX having the PC connected and Arduino Serial monitor open at 115200 baud. This should show info at bound time.
