It would fit a battery up to 120mm long by 35mm square and still have room to play with. It would certainly fit any 2200mah 3 cell I've seen and would probably fit a 4 cell in the same class. You could even gain a bit more length by mounting the servos on their sides a bit farther back than mine.

The NTM 28-26 was high on my list of motor choices. I don't recall whether it was one of the ones that was out of stock at the time or I just decided that I wanted the accessories, so I could use it in other planes, and extra bit of power offered by the KDA. My guess is that the performance between the two would be just about identical with the NTM running a little closer to it's power limit and probably getting a bit warmer.
