wind conditions

Clay
Wind conditions vary of course but our "Indian Summer" (late September-early December) often finds shirt sleeve weather here in San Francisco. There are variations to be sure. No one around here leaves home without multiple layers-shirt/sweater & jacket in the car.

beer-can #3 (December 8th) was calm and t-shirt weather. But, I had a turtle-neck, Irish sweater and foul-weather jacket in the car.

See the postcard picture Craig (SFMYC's alpha photographer) posted above (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...+lake&page=142 #2122) apparently taken in circa 1906. NO trees. Spreckels Lake was constructed in 1898. So, today we have +50' trees surrounding the lake which create turbulence and eddies that challenge us as skippers.

Its daunting task but very do-able. Ken Campbell, 2011 AMYA SB O/D NAC Champ. from San Diego raced here in July for the first time and beat all of us hands down. Good skippers are good no matter where they sail apparently.

We look forward to you joining us (anytime) for the 2013 AMYA SB O/D NAC CHAMPIONSHIP RACES during the AMERICA's CUP RACES out on San Francisco Bay. Our. dates are awaiting AC announcement of THEIR dates. We think (????) Sept 20th +/- will be it for SFMYC....TBA. Thanks for your interest.
