I believe there is an old saying that says there is none so blind as he who will not see. I believe that is a perfect illustration of myself. As I said in my post above, I did not build the mast correctly. I believe that I can do it properly the second time around.

Looking at this picture you can see that the acorn is larger than the mast cap. You can also see the taper of the mast. It's pretty plain, isn't it?
This side view clearly shows that the acorn extends past the rear of the mast cap.
This is why it looks funny. The acorn is smaller than the mast cap. The mast cap has to be reduced at least 1/4 of an inch in diameter, maybe a little more.
Just looks wrong, doesn't it? But I think I can fix it. Stay tuned for the MK II addition of a late war SO-3 mast. It's got to be better.
