Skim down the servo mounting plate.

With everything fixed and glued solidy onto the servo plate I then ran its backside on the belt sander. Oh Ah!

By the time I had finished the servo casings (top and bottom) were right against the fuselage sides, the plate was no more than a lolly stick. After all it has no value other than where the screw fixings are.
I wrapped it all (servos / wiring etc) with insulation tape to add strength and tidy up the wires then screwed it to the side.

You also only need the shortest servo arms you can get.

Look at the flap servo movements required before making decisions on horns etc here. It does want a fair amount of up throw in snap.
