Another thought just occurred to me. Landing zones are going to be the toughest part of this whole trip. Especially east of the Mississippi where things get crowded so a large uninhabited field to land a 10 pound plane (giving up that 5 lb is feasible) will take some acreage.

I bet they could do this if they map a route of AMA fields across the US from the west coast to the east coast. Then they could have a large field to land on and no worries about people getting in the way.
