I would assume any plaster would do, except for maybe joint compound (if that is considered "plaster"). Whatever you might use, you want a non-shrinking formula and to coat the cowl (initial mold) with a release agent (maybe a light spray of silicone?). If you search the Pico TM thread for "cowl mold" or "buck" you may find some helpful hints.
